Come to Winter Convocation: Real Connections
Every February, the Diocese of Ohio holds its Winter Convocation, focused on fun, fellowship, and formation. This year, it will be back in-person at Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky, Friday, February 3, and Saturday, February 4. The theme of this year’s event is Real Connections: Ministries to Strengthen Church and Community Relationships.
The keynote speaker is Joy Skjegstad, author of Real Connections. In addition to giving Friday evening’s keynote address, she will be presenting a workshop on Saturday, “Real Connections – Listening to your Community.” Some of the other workshops on Saturday include “Pray and Play Stations”, “Serving People not Solving Problems” and “Where I See God Leading the Church Today.” There are activities for the kids while grownups are busy with keynote addresses and workshops.
Of special note, our bishop-elect, the Rev. Anne Jolly, will be preaching at Saturday morning worship, her first time back to the diocese since her election in November. This is a great time to meet her.
Early bird registration fees are $35/Adult, $8/Age 17 and under, and $69 for a family. After that, registration fees are $49, $10, and $79 respectively. Financial assistance is available. If you are planning to spend Friday night in Sandusky, there are two main options. If you stay at the resort, your overnight stay includes four admissions to the waterpark. The Comfort Inn, just down the road, is cheaper, quieter, and has a very nice, free breakfast. For more information about Convocation and to register, see the diocesan web page.
