This weekend is another bright, and beautiful time here at Trinity. We are delighted to host Masterworks Chorale’s 50th Anniversary Concert this Sunday, June 11th at 4pm. Entitled “Where the Heart is: Community and Home” this concert will be brimming with excitement as current members, alumni and guest conductors fill our sanctuary with masterful choral works. Tickets are available at the door, $20 adults/$10 students.

Masterworks Chorale began as the Benjamin Locke Chorale in the early 1970’s in Toledo’s beloved neighborhood The Old West End. Rehearsing in their director’s basement, people connected to enhance their music skills, share the art of creating fine choral music, and find connection with others that had similar passions. Over the years, Masterworks built relationships with the Toledo Zoo & Aquarium, the Toledo Symphony, Toledo Mud Hens, Toledo School for the Arts, Ballet Theatre of Toledo, and the Toledo Ballet to name a few. Doing various outreach projects, the group also performs at senior centers, and has a high school internship program where area high school students learn alongside seasoned choral singers to enhance their education.

Their current mission is “Connecting Lives through choral music” and that is certainly what they work to do. Through the chorale, many people have made lasting friendships (and even met their spouses!) It is a wonderful place to connect and create beautiful music that is only possible with many people around you.

This is not a concert you’ll want to miss. If you are a fan of choral music, the legato is fantastic, and there is a wonderful variety of composers and styles present in the program. If you don’t yet know if you’re a fan of choral music, know that there is nothing like hearing a large group of singers working together to create a musical moment together. If you’re curious and willing to give choral music a try, this is the concert to come test it out.

Happy singing, friends!
