Dear Friends,

As many of you have heard, The Rev. Dr. Lisa Tucker-Gray has resigned her position as rector of Trinity and will be moving on to a new position with the Church Pension Group in New York City as Vice President of Faculty Management and Training.  Lisa’s last Sunday service with us will be on September 10th at 10:00 AM where we will celebrate the ministry that we have shared together and wish her well as she answers Gods call to begin a new chapter in her life.

So, I am sure that many of you are thinking, what are our next steps to finding a new rector for Trinity?

For those of you that are new to the Episcopal church, a rector is not assigned to our parish. We will follow a formal search process to find the right person for us. This can be a long process that could take as long as 18 months to find the right person for us. During that time, we call an interim priest whose responsibilities include the celebration of Sunday worship, the continuation of pastoral care, support of our outreach programs, and whatever else contributes to the maintenance of the normal parish operations while we search for a new rector. As with a rector search, calling an interim priest is also a careful process to find the right person for us during our transitional time.

Where are we now in the transition process?

Last Friday, our Bishop Anne Jolly and a member of her staff, Rev. Margaret D’Anieri came to Trinity to meet with me, Jeffrey Albright, and Karen Keune to see how we were doing and reassure us that she and her staff are praying for us and will be walking with us through the transition process. The Bishop has said that the only thing that we should be doing at this time is saying goodbye to Lisa, and celebrating our ministry together. And so that is what we will do over the next six weeks. We will say goodbye, be grateful for the time that we have had together and celebrate the ministry we have shared together at the Sunday service on September 10th at 10:00 AM.

Please know that we will update the congregation with information as we move through the transition process. Please feel free to contact me, Jeffrey Albright, or any vestry member if you have questions.

Peace,
Donna Steppe
Senior Warden
